Don't Starve Together: caves and world settings
Published on Oct. 8, 2026

Your Don't Starve Together server levels up. Caves, playstyle, seasons, bosses, survival rules, administrators: everything can now be set from your server's page on Drooft, without touching a single configuration file.

Caves. Add the underground world to your server: ruins, Toadstool, Ancient Guardian, and all the content that only exists below ground. Drooft then automatically starts a second server for the caves, linked to the surface, and stops it along with the surface, saving both worlds.

  • The caves have their own three ports, to open on your router like the surface ones. You can test them from your server's page
  • Plan for 2 to 3 GB of extra RAM on your machine
  • Disabling the caves does not delete their world: it is kept and restored if you enable them again

Playstyle. Choose from Klei's official playstyles:

  • Survival: the world resets when all players are dead
  • Relaxed: hunger, cold and heat don't kill, fewer threats
  • Endless: no reset, respawn at the portal
  • Wilderness: spawn at a random location, no ghosts
  • Lights Out: permanent night

More than 50 world settings. Each setting can keep the playstyle's value, or be set precisely:

  • World generation: size, starting season, touch stones, roads, amount of grass, trees, boulders, flint, berry bushes…
  • Seasons & day: length of each season, day/night cycle (long day, permanent night…)
  • Threats: hound attacks, Krampus, shadow creatures, wildfires, lightning, frog and meteor showers, cave earthquakes…
  • Bosses: Deerclops, Bearger, Moose/Goose, Dragonfly, Antlion, Bee Queen, Klaus, Malbatross, Toadstool, Treeguards
  • Survival & death: spawn point, ghosts, portal resurrection, non-lethal hunger, cold and darkness, starting items…
  • Regrowth: regrowth speed and basic resource regrowth
As with every Drooft game, these settings can be changed while the server is running and apply at the next start. Only the world generation settings are locked once the world is created.

Administrators and access. Choose your administrators, reserve slots for your regular players even when the server is full, and manage the list of banned players with their Klei ID (KU_…). Bans made in game are automatically copied to the website.

And also. Description, intention and language shown in the in-game server list, player votes, number of rollback points kept and update frequency (tick rate).
