How to play on a Steam Workshop map on your Counter-Strike 2 server
The "Steam Workshop map" field loads a single community map on your Counter-Strike 2 server (aim, surf, bhop, retake map...), without having to create a collection. When set, the server first starts on the startup map (CS2 requires it), downloads the Workshop map, then switches to it automatically. The Steam Workshop collection is then ignored.
Browse the Counter-Strike 2 Workshop community maps: https://steamcommunity.com/app/730/workshop/
Open the map's page: the URL looks like https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=XXXXXXXXX. Copy this number and paste it into your server's "Steam Workshop map" field. If the displayed URL does not contain the ID, click the page's "Share" button: the full URL is shown in the share window.
A surf or bhop map needs suitable movement settings, an aim map needs short rounds: your server's "Setting presets" button applies these settings in one click ("Surf / Bhop" and "Aim / 1v1" presets).
Important: the map must be set to "Public" visibility on Steam, otherwise the server will not be able to download it.
Best practices
- Leave the field empty to go back to the startup map or the collection.
- To rotate several Workshop maps, use a Steam Workshop collection instead.
- The first start takes longer, while the map downloads.
