Counter-Strike 2 is a team-based tactical shooter developed by Valve, released in 2023 to replace Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Two teams, terrorists and counter-terrorists, compete around objectives (planting/defusing a bomb, rescuing hostages) over short, economy-driven rounds.

Rebuilt on the Source 2 engine, the game keeps the precise, demanding gunplay the franchise is known for, while modernizing the graphics, smoke physics (now fully volumetric) and netcode.

The classic competitive mode pits two teams of 5 players against each other, but the community also self-hosts a huge number of casual, deathmatch, retake and surf servers, making it one of the most popular games for community hosting.

Counter-Strike 2 has been free-to-play since launch.

Deploying a server

Prerequisites : Having a hosting on which the Drooft Game Hosting service is installed.
If you haven't already, please follow the installation guide for the Drooft Game Hosting service.

L'installation d'un serveur de jeu Counter-Strike 2 prend entre 15 et 45 minutes, principalement lié au temps de téléchargement du serveur de jeu (environ 85 Go) !

Step 1:

Go to the page adding game server and provide the following information:

  • Choice of host : Choose which hosting the game server will be deployed on
  • Game : Choisissez le jeu à déployer (donc Counter-Strike 2)
  • Game server name : Name your game server so that it is easily identifiable to you
  • Game port : Renseignez le port du serveur (vérifiez bien que le port est ouvert en UDP/TCP sur internet). Contrairement à d'autres jeux, un seul port est utilisé par Counter-Strike 2 (jeu, requête Steam et RCON transitent tous par ce même port).
  • Access type : Choisissez le mode d'accès à votre serveur (password, amis, public)

Once the above information has been entered, you will be redirected to your server's administration page.

Step 2:

Wait a few minutes for the server to go into the state "Game server turned off" (depending on the speed of your internet connection).

Important : Counter-Strike 2 exige un "Login Token" (Game Server Login Token / GSLT, jeton Steam gratuit lié à votre compte, obtenu sur le site de gestion des serveurs Steam) pour être joignable et listé normalement. Renseignez-le dans le champ "Login Token" en bas de page — le bouton "démarrer" reste bloqué tant qu'il n'est pas rempli.

Now that the server is initialized, you can configure a number of server options at the bottom of the page (eg: Maximum number of players).

Start your server (button "to start up").

The game server is ready, all you have to do is play and invite your friends !

Tips:

Vérifiez que le port du serveur est ouvert sur internet (UDP et TCP). Vous pouvez tester l'ouverture de vos ports directement depuis la page de votre serveur de jeu, grâce à l'icône .

Customizing Server Settings

A number of game server settings can be changed directly from the site. This list is constantly evolving.

Below is the list of already supported options:

Password Allows you to join the game (single player)
Game Server Login Token Game Server Login Token (GSLT) Steam, obligatoire pour démarrer le serveur — voir l'encart "Important" de l'onglet Installation
Admin password Mot de passe RCON du serveur, utilisé pour l'administration et le comptage de joueurs affiché sur le site
Maximum number of players Allows you to choose the maximum number of simultaneous players on the server

Other options may be added in the future, depending on needs.
