How to recover your Cluster Token on Don't Starve Together
The Cluster Token is an essential element for hosting a dedicated server on Don't Starve Together. It allows your cluster to be identified by Klei's servers and authorizes players to join your online world.
Step 1: Activate the game console
First, make sure the console is enabled in the game settings. Once in-game or in the main menu, open it using the dedicated key (usually the ² or ~ key depending on your keyboard).
Step 2: Generate a Cluster Token
In the console, use the following command:
TheNet:GenerateClusterToken()
After validation, the game automatically contacts Klei's servers and generates a new Cluster Token associated with your account.
Step 3: Where to find the token?
If no errors appear in the console, the token should have been generated correctly. You can open the 'cluster_token.txt' file to confirm its creation.
This file is usually located here:
- On Windows: /Documents/Klei/DoNotStarveTogether/cluster_token.txt
- On linux: ~/.klei/DoNotStarveTogether/cluster_token.txt
Best practices
- Avoid sharing your Cluster Token publicly.
- Regenerate it if it is compromised.
- Keep a copy of the code before making any major changes to your server.
